Today, my reptile room operates as a controlled and evolving micro-ecosystem space. It houses multiple amphibian species alongside carefully maintained reptiles, including a Jackson’s chameleon, African fat-tailed geckos, and a giant day gecko.
The room is supported by automated environmental systems regulating humidity, temperature, lighting cycles, and airflow. All of these systems ensure a precise replica of the natural habitat of these species. Dedicated fruit fly breeding stations sustain amphibian nutrition, while bioactive terrariums integrate live plants, microfauna, and custom spray-foam backgrounds designed to replicate natural structures.
Every enclosure is engineered with intention — not as decoration, but as a functional habitat built around the species that will be living in it.
Currently, I believe that my reptile room is very complete; from nocturnal to diurnal species, from amphibians to reptiles, etc. But my future approach may be toward fully enjoying my reptiles. I believe that if I were to expand my reptile room significantly more, I may not appreciate each individual as I do today. And it could turn from an ecosystem recreation passion to a reptile collection hobby, something that I do not pursue.
My goal today is to relate and bond with my current reptiles. I know the bond might not be as profound as with other animals, though I believe that some level of training is possible with the reptiles that I keep. The artificial ecosystems already ensure they may learn abilities and tolerate human presence at a higher level, so I truly want to take advantage of that.
